I’ve been winning a lot this month!

I still have a ways to go to complete my novel, but I hit the 50,000 mark on November 16th. I have slowed down a bit and my goal is to write 1000 words a day till I finish the novel. Woot!  Either way!  I won at NaNoWriMo.  This is a perfect way to inspire and motivate you to get that novel started!

Even when you are runner-up you are still a winner!

I’m oozing with the need to create!  I am doing NaNoWriMo this year and on day 10 surpassed the 30,000 mark already for a novel I am writing called Freaks & Grimm.  If you want to follow my progress, check it out here. http://nanowrimo.org/participants/lizzie-violet/novels

AND two amazing things happened today!  I picked up my certificate for being the runner-up for the Now Magazine Readers Poll.

Good things come in three!  Today the Nik Beat tribute CD was released online.  You can download the entire album here or individual songs/spoken word pieces.  I am on there with two pieces.  (Suicide Saved My Life and Exit).  Please help keep Nik’s legacy alive.  I will let you know about the CD release party soon.

I won Runner Up for Now Magazine Reader Poll award!

A huge thank you to everyone who voted for me for NOW Magazine‘s Readers Poll for Best Spoken Word. I won the runner-up prize! Congrats to d’bi Young for winning the main prize!

It’s a huge honour to come in second, as I was up against some huge competition including the amazing Dwayne Morgan, Lillian Allen and Truth Is.

A huge congrats to Arlene Paculan who was also a runner up for best song writer! The main winner in that category was Ron Hawkins!

Project HOTS: Get Off The Streets Fundraiser

Come on out to the Horseshoe Tavern on November 22nd at 8pm for our wonderful fundraiser with local bands, stand up comics, spoken word, poets, and singers.

We will be raising money to buy food for care bags to be given out by the street volunteer teams for the homeless around Toronto living on the streets, along with winter gear.

The entry fee at the door will be $5.00 and there will be a donation box set up by the merchandise and raffle bag table as well.

There will be raffle tickets for sale at the show:
1 for $2
3 for $5
Headband for $10

We will also be collecting donations of clothing, house hold items, and animal supplies (food, treats, toys, bedding, etc..) for Fred Victor – Helping People Find Place & Purpose. You can message Project HOTS on Facebook or email us at projecthots@outlook.com to arrange a pick up or drop off location instead of bringing the donations to the venue the night of the show.
